  1. Who wrote the book of Romans?

Answer:

According to Romans 1:1, the apostle Paul wrote this letter.

  1. To whom was it written?

According to Romans 1:7, the letter was written to “all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints.”  This means that it was written to the Christians who made up the church in Rome.

Paul had not actually been to Rome.  According to Romans 1:11-12, he had a strong desire to come to Rome because it would be good for them and him.  However, we learn in Romans 1:13 that thus far he had been prevented from doing this.
