2.     His divine nature

  1. List the four results of failing to acknowledge God, The Creator, from the creation:

ANSWER (see Romans 1:2023):

1.     Confusion – they became futile in their thinking

2.     Callousness – their foolish hearts were darkened

3.     Intellectualism – claiming to be wise, they became fools

4.     Idolatry – they exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images

  1. Summarize the consistent reaction of God to people’s failure to acknowledge him:

ANSWER (see Romans 1:24,26, and 28):

“God gave them up.”  In other words, he let them have their own way even though it was wrong.

  1. Review the pattern of those who choose to not acknowledge God (see section six above and read Romans 1:24-32).   How does this apply to our life today?

ANSWER:

The pattern is one of degradation.  First, they dishonored themselves (Romans 1:24).  This was followed by dishonoring others (Romans 1:26-27).  They moved on into doing about everything that should not be done (Romans 1:28-31).  Their attitude became a total hardness toward God and an acceptance of a lifestyle contradictory to what God wanted (Romans 1:32).  This was not what God wanted.  However, he gives us freedom of choice: we can follow him or go our own way.  The problem is that we have to live with that choice when we get to Judgment Day (see Hebrews 9:27 and II Corinthians 5:10).
